In doing so, I’ve shared some historical context about Tamil to help explain how these connections may have come about. I have the utmost respect for all languages and regions, and this video is not intended to disrespect or diminish any others. Regarding the mention of Tamil as one of the oldest languages in the world (0:19), I am aware that the age of languages cannot be calculated with absolute precision. However, there's substantial linguistic and historical evidence that Tamil is among the oldest surviving languages, and that’s the point I was trying to make. As for the mention of Tamil being a Dravidian language, it’s what I was taught in school and that’s the understanding I conveyed in the video. However, there were several comments in the previous video suggesting that Tamil may not be part of the Dravidian language family.   I was just watching Running Point on Netflix and they were celebrating a Korean child’s Dolchanji ceremony. And, as a person of Sri Lankan Tamil Hindu decent, I noticed that its similar to our Kolakatta ceremony. We do it when our kids start getting teeth and we drop Kolakatta (which is “like” a sweet dumpling) over the kids head and then let the kid choose an item (out of a set - money, pencil, book, phone) so it reflects what they will become later in life.

  Korean is NOT similar to Chinese in the sense of its language root or origin, bit it is only that Korea borrowed many words from China just like English language borrowed many French words for use in official circumstances. Origin or root-wise, Korean and Japanese and other Turkic languages have similar roots, but not Chinese. It is surprising how these members are so ignorant yet so brave to talk about what they do not know.

  I think this was definitely a more formal, traditionalized Tamil speaker showing from certain rules she follows, modern Tamil has a lot more slang to it. I like that she’s teaching the formal version first, but I think the informal slang of some words could be added too
